TokyoTOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION unveiled at the New York International Automobile Show*1 today (April 16, New York time) its all-new U.S.-market Prius, marking the dawn of a new age of hybrid vehicles. The new Prius represents a vast evolutionary step from the original Prius that was launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid passenger car. It features a new high-efficiency hybrid system that aims to set new global benchmarks in environmental performance and that heightens the "fun to drive"quotient. Its emphasis on universal design is reflected in operational controls that feature the latest in electronic-control technology and in styling and packaging that redefine the passenger vehicle category. |
